What worries owners with several locations
When you have one shop, you know it well. When you have three, five or more, details start to slip. One site has cameras that nobody checks. Another has a recorder installed by a different company years ago and nobody knows the password. A manager at the third site rings you about an incident, and you cannot tell what happened.
Inconsistency is the real enemy. Different equipment, different settings and different people responsible leave you with a patchwork that is hard to support and harder to trust.
One ecosystem, many places
Our approach is to use the same Dahua ecosystem at each location, with an NVR at each site and the DMSS app tying them together. You can view multiple cameras and locations from one place on your phone or tablet, play back recordings and see alerts as they arrive.
That means a business owner in one city can look at the warehouse in another, then switch to the shopfront, without juggling logins and apps. Remote access is set up securely through DMSS and sensible network configuration. We never suggest port forwarding.
Placement that repeats sensibly
Each site has its own layout, so we do not copy a design blindly. We do aim for a common logic:
- the entry and exit points,
- the area where money or stock is handled,
- the rear or service door,
- the car park or yard, and
- the spaces you care most about after hours.
Staff then know what to expect at every site, and your own review habits carry across. If you already operate retail stores or warehouses, those pages explain how we think about each type of space.
How AI detection helps
The value of AI detection grows when you have more places to watch. On compatible systems, human detection reduces alerts from environmental movement, so a manager is not woken by every shadow. Intrusion detection zones can be set to notify you when a person enters a particular area after trading hours, and vehicle detection can create alerts or searchable events at yards and car parks.
When you need to review something across sites, intelligent video search on compatible systems helps locate people, vehicles or events without watching long recordings. AI features vary depending on the selected camera and recorder, and smaller sites may use simpler equipment than larger ones. We can mix capability to suit each location while keeping the setup familiar.
Sharing with managers
Not everybody needs access to everything. DMSS lets you share devices with family members or staff, so a store manager can check their own site while you keep the overview. We help you decide who sees what, and we can change that when people move on. Staff turnover is easier to handle when the access list is deliberate rather than accidental.
Plan for these things
- A standard. Decide what a typical site should have, then adjust for the odd ones out.
- Who is responsible. Name one person who looks after the system, and a backup.
- Internet at each site. Remote viewing depends on a dependable connection. We check this during the quote.
- Existing equipment. Tell us what you already have so we can advise what to keep and what to replace.
- Staff notice and signage. Workplace-surveillance rules differ by state and territory, which matters when your sites are in more than one. This is general information, not legal advice, so check each state's rules.
- Rolling out in stages. You can start with one or two locations and extend later.

Frequently asked questions
Can I see all my locations in one app?
Yes. DMSS supports viewing multiple cameras and remote access to multiple properties or locations.
Can I start with one site?
Yes. We can set up one location first and add others later using the same approach.
Can site managers see only their own site?
Access can be shared selectively, and we help you set it up that way.
Do all sites need the same cameras?
No. Capabilities vary by camera and recorder, so each site can be matched to its needs while keeping the setup consistent.
