You are not on site. What is happening there?
You are at the airport, at dinner or three hours down the road. Your phone buzzes. A question forms straight away: is everything all right at home, or at the shop?
DMSS answers it. The name stands for Dahua Mobile Security Surveillance. It is Dahua's mobile security app, and it connects your smartphone or tablet to your Dahua security system. Once configured, you can manage and monitor your property remotely.
A scenario we like
Picture a business owner who is away from the premises. Their system identifies a person entering a monitored area after hours and sends an alert. They open DMSS, view the event and access the relevant camera footage. Within a minute or two they know whether it is a cleaner, a staff member or someone who should not be there, and they can decide what to do next.
That is the idea of the whole system: see what is happening, get alerts that matter, review the event and reach the recording.
What DMSS can do
Here is what the app provides, once your system is configured.
- Live camera viewing from anywhere. Open a camera and see it now.
- Recorded video playback. Look back at what was recorded, from the recorder's stored footage.
- Security event notifications. Alerts to your phone for selected events.
- AI-generated alerts. Notifications based on detections such as people and vehicles, on compatible systems.
- Camera and recorder management. Review and manage the devices connected to your account.
- Multiple camera viewing. Watch several cameras on one screen.
- Alarm system control on compatible systems.
- Video intercom communication, where an intercom is part of your setup.
- Device sharing with family members or staff.
- Access to multiple properties or locations from the same app.
Not every item will apply to every customer. A home with four cameras may use live view, notifications and playback. A business with several sites may lean on multi-property access and sharing.
Why set-up is the real value
Downloading the app takes seconds. Making it dependable takes proper configuration. We handle:
- connecting your recorder and cameras to DMSS
- configuring remote access securely, through DMSS and sensible network configuration
- choosing which events send notifications, and to whom
- making sure the alerts you receive are the ones worth having
- adding family members or staff, if you want to share access
Then we train you. We show you how to view cameras, play back footage and respond to alerts, so that when your phone buzzes you know what to tap. If something changes later, our support team can help.
Where it suits best
DMSS suits almost every kind of customer, and it is especially handy for:
- Business owners who are rarely on site.
- Holiday homes and investment properties, where the owner lives elsewhere.
- Multi-site businesses, where one app covers several locations.
- Families who want to share a view of the front entrance or driveway.

What to know
The app depends on your system. DMSS is the window. What you see through it depends on what is installed. AI alerts need compatible cameras and a compatible recorder, and AI features vary. Alarm control works on compatible systems. Intercom features need an intercom in the setup.
You need an internet connection. Remote viewing and notifications rely on both your property's connection and your phone's. If either is down, remote access is affected, though the recorder keeps recording locally.
Notifications depend on your phone. Phone settings, battery saver modes and permissions can block alerts. We help you check these during training.
Alerts are prompts, not proof. An alert tells you something was detected. You look and decide.
Privacy. Sharing live access to cameras that show people raises privacy questions. Surveillance and workplace-surveillance rules differ by state and territory. This is general information, not legal advice, so check your own state's rules.
