Peace of mind has a distance problem
You own a shop and you are interstate for a wedding. You rent out a unit and the tenant has just left. You have a holiday house that sits empty most of the month. You manage three sites and one of you cannot be in three places.
Remote monitoring is the answer to that distance. It lets you see, review and respond without driving there.
How it works, in plain words
Your cameras connect to a recorder at the property. The recorder connects to your internet. Through the DMSS app, your phone reaches the recorder, so you can see your cameras live or play back recordings from wherever you have a connection.
The security of that link matters as much as the convenience. Remote access is set up securely through DMSS and sensible network configuration. That is part of what you are paying for when you choose a professional installation instead of connecting things yourself.
What you can do from afar
Using the DMSS mobile app, once configured:
- view live cameras
- play back recorded footage
- receive notifications for selected events
- see AI-generated alerts on compatible systems
- view several cameras together
- respond to a video intercom, where one is installed
- control an alarm system on compatible systems
Remote monitoring is where the alerts become useful. A person flagged by human detection, inside a zone from intrusion detection, arrives as a notification you can open from anywhere.
More than one property
One of the most valued parts is how it scales. DMSS provides remote access to multiple properties or locations. That could be:
- your home and your investment property
- a shopfront and a warehouse
- several branches of a multi-site business
- a holiday home in another state
Each location has its own system, and you view them together in one app.
Sharing with family or staff
You do not have to be the only person with a view. DMSS supports device sharing with family members or staff. A partner can check the front entrance. A manager can open the shop cameras. A property manager can look in on a rental.
Share with care. Decide who needs live access, who needs only alerts and who should not have access at all, and remove people when their role ends. We help you set it up sensibly.
Where it suits best
- People who travel, work shifts or live away from a property.
- Business owners who want a view of the premises after hours.
- Landlords and managers with more than one address.
What to know
We never open up your network carelessly. Some DIY guides tell people to adjust their router in risky ways to reach cameras from outside. We do not do that. Remote access is configured through DMSS and sensible network configuration, and we explain what is in place.
It depends on your internet. Remote viewing needs a working internet connection at the property and on your phone. Speed matters too. A slow upload at the property can mean slower or lower-quality remote video. If the connection drops, the recorder can still keep recording locally, and you can review the footage afterwards.
Notifications depend on your phone. Settings, permissions and battery saver modes can delay or block alerts. We check them with you.
AI alerts need compatible equipment. Features vary by camera and recorder, and entry-level systems may offer basic motion detection only.
Privacy. Sharing live views of people, especially employees, has legal and ethical implications. Surveillance-devices and workplace-surveillance rules differ by state and territory, and signage and notifying staff matter. This is general information, not legal advice, so check your own state's rules.
Getting started
Remote monitoring is built into how we install every system. See how it works for the steps, or read our FAQ. To arrange a quote, call 1300 263 551 or contact us. Coverage and scheduling across Australia are confirmed when we quote.
Frequently asked questions
Can I watch my cameras from overseas?
Yes, provided the property has a working internet connection and you have one on your phone. Video quality depends on both connections.
Is remote access secure?
We set it up securely through DMSS and sensible network configuration. We do not suggest opening up your router the way some online guides do.
What happens if my internet goes down?
You cannot view remotely until it returns, but the recorder can continue to record locally.
Can my staff view the cameras too?
Yes, DMSS supports sharing with staff or family. Decide who needs access and review it from time to time.
